WORKOUT HAIR, JAMAICA

Jamaica is a beautiful Caribbean escape; you can experience it whichever way. We chose a very classic hotel, the Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay. It’s an iconic hotel, the royal family has stayed there amongst many other notable guests. Several Jamaican hotels have been used as film locations in James Bond films; the Half Moon resort’s Cottage 10 is the bedroom where Bond spent the night with Rosie Carver.

This trip was very chill, a mini wellness retreat really. My favorite way to start the day is with a sunrise yoga sesh followed by a morning massage on the beach. The resort has private huts on the beach so you can enjoy the sounds of the gushing ocean while enjoying some deep tissue kneading.

POST yoga hair routine:

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay, Jamaica

A lot of you have asked me about Post yoga/ workout hair. So, here are my favorite products for post-yoga hair.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, which shampoo should i use?

If you work out a lot, it’s important to use sulfate-free shampoo. Sulfates are used to strip your scalp and hair from oil, but too much will strip away your natural moisture and color, leaving the hair dry. Here are some shampoos for different hair types that are all sulfate-free.

For fine hair: Kerastase Bain Fluidealist Shampoo

For thicker hair: IGK Hot Girls, it’s very hydrating and works great for thick hair texture.

For curly hair: Ouidad, I love this line and always recommend it for my curly clients. The complete line specializes in curly hair.

For all textures: Oribe Gold Lust shampoo is an oldie but a goodie, unfortunately, it has sulfates so I prefer the Oribe Shampoo For Beautiful Color. The ingredients are very similar to Gold Lust but sans sulfates.

For colored hair: Any of the above, the main reason why I recommend a sulfate-free shampoo is to protect your color and/or your natural hair moisture. Not to say sulfates are bad for you but excess use will definitely dry your hair.

The first rule, however, is ‘do not overwash!’ I definitely recommend washing your hair when you break a sweat, but on your off days try dry shampoo. My all-time favorite is Perfect Hair Day by Living Proof.

Normally when I practice yoga, I don’t feel the need to wash my hair after, so I just apply dry shampoo to the scalp area. Then, I add Thirsty Girl from IGK to my ends, which will add shine and hydration throughout the day. It also works as sun protection. And voila, sleek back and put it in a ponytail. Try a silky crunchy, it doesn’t rip your hair out as much.
