When it comes to planning a wedding, picking a date and dress can be the least of your worries. After all, looking radiant and picture-perfect on your special day takes some work and planning—ok, months of work and planning. Here are some tips that I swear by and of course were part of my hair and beauty regimen prior to tying the knot in the Bahamas.

6 Months to go

If you are months out, try a daily vitamin with biotin to help your hair grow faster and stronger. My absolute go-to for hair vitamins is Nutrafol, it truly does work and whenever I am consistent I see a huge difference.

On the topic of tackling beauty from the inside so you can thrive on the outside, I started a few months prior to my wedding using Sakara’s Beauty + Detox Drops.

6 Weeks to go

Now, normally I recommend every bride finalizes her hair color and cut about 6 weeks prior to the wedding, which of course leaves room for a trim and root touch up if needed. I can’t say I followed this advise myself, my days leading up to the wedding were really hectic, between work and getting all last details in order I barely had time to do my hair. But I managed to do a balayage touch-up, really just a face frame to freshen up the color.

3 Days to go

Considering this was my wedding weekend, the hair prep is a bit more extensive than usual but this is a great guide for any big event or simply looking your best for your next dinner date.

It’s always good to detox and replenish your hair a few days prior, I used Olaplex no 3 this concentrated treatment addresses damaged hair, it strengthens and repairs hair structure while restoring the texture. It’s a staple in my cabinet, you can use it 1x a month. After the Olaplex treatment I used a purifying shampoo to remove build up, which also helps create volume and movement now that all impurities have been stripped away. I finished with Davines The Restless Circle Mask, check it out on my Amazon Shop list. It’s only 10$ but really hydrates the hair.

1 day to go

I’ve talked mainly about hair prep, but obviously you need to take care of skin and body as well. A great body exfoliator is Frank body. The Coconut Coffee scrub gives vacation-glowing skin. It’s a must.

For skin prep, I’ll leave that to your dermatologist or aethetician to make the right recommendation for your skin needs.

So really, the best thing you can do at this point is to get some shut-eye—you’ve done your work, now take some time to relax (or at least try to). And, hydrate! Drink lots of water the day before to ensure you (and your skin) are hydrated.

Sip, sip… hooray!

Wedding Day:

Congratulations—you’ve made it to the big day! Now all you have to do is smile and try not to cry (and if you do, your waterproof mascara’s got you covered).

Just kidding, a few more steps to go. Head to my Wedding Day post for details.
