6 TIPS HOW TO PROMOTE HAIR GROWTH
Miami, Florida
1. Sleep on a silk Pillow
Silk pillowcases fight frizz by helping your hair retain moisture. Silk is also a friction-free material that allows your hair to glide and move freely over the pillowcase while you sleep. Meaning less snagging and damage which, as you've probably guessed, means less frizz.
It’s especially beneficial for curly or natural hair, which doesn’t retain as much moisture as straight hair and is more prone to breakage. Reality check: whether it’s cotton or silk, the pillowcase you sleep on doesn’t influence your hair loss in any way. Outside of medical or hereditary causes, the things we do that create hair loss are the things we do mechanically to our hair, including heat styling and rough handling. A pillowcase won’t prevent that.
2. RINSE WITH COLD WATER
The key is not eliminating warm water, but incorporating cool water. I am not suggesting that you participate in the ice bucket challenge every time you want to wash or deep condition your hair. A quick cold water rinse at the end will do the job. Cold water preserves natural oils and keeps your hair manageable, it gives your hair a healthy shine and loads it up with extra moisture giving it a smoother and shinier look. Another benefit: is good blood circulation, which is essential for the overall promotion of hair growth. While most think that blood flow to the scalp is increased with a scalp massage (which it is) introducing cold water into your wash routine can help blood circulation as well.
3. USE a microfiber towel
Microfiber is a soft and smooth material, so you don’t have to use as much effort and friction in order to quickly dry your hair. Your hair will be dry – but not excessively so – which helps maintain its softness and manageability. The smoothness of microfiber towels means that there are no loops to get intertwined with your hair. It’s all about being gentler to your hair, which in return is repaid by healthier growth. Here is a link to my favorite Microfiber towels.
4. Braid your hair before going to sleep
Braid your hair before going to sleep. This old trick works every time and is one of the best ways to wear your hair when sleeping. It protects your hair from tangling and breaking and also gives you gorgeous beachy waves the next day. My go-to silk scrunchy is from SLIP, I also like their pillowcases.
5. Micro trims every 8 weeks
I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it’s key for healthy hair growth. By removing damaged hair and split ends you allow your hair’s healthy ends to absorb all the benefits of the products you use, less frizz, and overall shine. It’s by far the most important action to promote hair growth. Book your appointment today at House of Mane.
6. alternate products for scalp and ends
Ideally, alternate between two shampoos every few washes. If you use a shampoo to treat a specific problem and it leaves buildup on your hair, you can alternate with a clarifying shampoo to remove excess product buildup. Or let's say you have damaged ends, (first, you need a trim) but you also need to alternate between a hydrating conditioner and a conditioner with protein. The concept is to find a shampoo and conditioner combo for the top and bottom half of your hair.
