TICK TOCK ALL ABOUT TIMING
Miami, Florida
Many times, we underestimate how long certain treatments or services can take. Other times, we may spend most of our Saturday in the salon chair and wonder why so much time is spent on the service. Coloring your hair can be a multi-step process that requires a lot of detailed attention and a careful, watchful eye (and hand) every step of the way.
Knowing how much time to allocate for a treatment or service makes the salon experience much more enjoyable, leaving you, the client, satisfied with the experience as a whole.
I like to say ‘custom’ colors take anywhere from 3-5 hours in the salon from start to finish. I say ‘custom’ color because there are so many different types of color services full highlights, partial highlights, balayage, single process, gloss, face frame, lowlights etc. However, everything is CUSTOM. Every color is specifically designed for YOU and your skin color, eye color, hair texture, and your overall goal.
Let’s walk through a custom highlight service (or balayage because balayage is a highlight and I mix foil work & balayage techniques all the time).
Let’s break it down:
Arrival at the salon: get set up w/ robe and beverage 5 min.
Consultation: can take anywhere from 5-15 min.
Mixing color(s): 5-10min depending on how many colors are being used in one appointment.
Application: 45 min -1 hour depending on the desired results
Processing time: 30-50 min depending on how your hair lifts it might take longer.
Washing & detailing: 10-15min
Root glossing & all over gloss: 15- 25min
Rinsing & conditioning: 5-10min
