SUMMER HAIR IN CABO
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Our trip to Cabo was an early Christmas present for Hernando. This was one of the first vacations where I had time to actually relax and not be on-to-go the entire time; we woke up without an agenda and enjoyed the days with spontaneity – the best part of it all.
I really want to focus on Beach and Pool hair for this post so I won’t go into details about all the fun things we did while in Cabo, but please DM if you need any recommendations. We went diving with a school of Amber Jax, luckily for me, we didn’t see any sharks, sadly for Hernando who was looking forward to sighting Hammer sharks. We saw sea lions, rented RTVs through the desert – I felt very Lara Croft-ish behind the wheel, we had great meals, my favorite was authentic shrimp and avo tacos. Overall it felt like a real vacay with a very relaxed atmosphere.
Here is my essential Beach and Pool haircare routine: Obviously this applies anywhere, I use the same products when we go boating in Miami or take a dip in the pool. Sorry in advance, beach/ pool hair care is a bit less travel friendly because you need more products than usual. So, make sure to order these travel-friendly jars from my Amazon list – instead of taking up half a suitcase with hair care products.
Beach Hair:
I love using Sun Bum 3 in 1 Leave in before heading to the beach, but I also use it afterward. This product: detangles, conditions, and protects your hair while restoring its natural texture. It controls frizz and gives your hair a smooth finish. You can use this product before and after the beach. It protects your hair from salt water. Spray it in before heading to the beach on dry hair and reapply when you get out of the water. Added bonus: It smells like vacation and Sun Bum is a cruelty-free, parabens free, color-safe brand.
Post beach:
You don’t need to get a special shampoo or conditioner; saltwater isn’t as bad as chlorine especially if you use the protective product from Sun Bum. Just make sure to rinse your hair with fresh water after the beach.
Pool Hair:
I like to pack Malibu C swimmers wellness, they make travel-friendly packets. With this product, you can really enjoy the pool without having to worry about your color. Malibu C eliminates damage and discoloration from swimming while restoring lost protein and moisture. Essentially, it clarifies and removes chlorine residue.
Use a hydrating shampoo and Conditioner:
For fine hair:
IGK Thirsty girl travel-size shampoo and conditioner
For curly hair:
IGK Hot girls hydrating shampoo and conditioner
For colored hair:
Bring a clarifying shampoo for example DP hue Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse
Additional products:
Thirsty Girl Leave-In Conditioner spray for added hydration works for every hair type.
Hair mask:
Oribe Signature Moisture Mask is my all-time favorite mask. Give your hair a mini spa day before dinner, also the smell is incredible.
!! Important note on hair masks!! If the packaging says 3 minutes – leave it for approximately that amount – there is no benefit in leaving it overnight. There are some products that will have a reversed effect if not used properly, so seriously trust the instructions. You can be sure, the brands are not trying to deprive you of added shine but listing less-than-needed minutes.
Let me know if you have any questions, I am happy to help you put together the perfect hair care routine that will protect your hair from unnecessary damaging and/ or color fading.
